i'm doing a fantastic job of keeping this updated. props to me.

right.

so where were we? ah yes. deep in conversation over a hot mug of tea talking about this new fancy pants album. well kiddies, its officially off to print.

THE OFFICIAL RELEASE PARTY IS AUG 29TH AT THE PARK CENTRAL LIBRARY IN DOWNTOWN SPRINGFIELD.

7:30 pm. don't be late. i'm only playing two songs so i can spend the rest of the time leading a workshop on hummingbird feeders of the ozarks.

i'll have cds on hand, as well as single download cards, posters, and whatever i decide to put on the merch table! i'll play a couple of sets, but in all honesty, this won't be a 1 am kind of night so don't wait til ten to come say hi!!

we have new shows in sept going all the way from lawrence ks, kc mo, stl, to murphysboro il, and down to fayetteville ar, or faytown as i prefer to call it. check the soon to be new website for details!!

ok... so wow. its been a while. just posted some pics from the weekend. shows went well. its always a good weekend if paddy malones is on the calendar.

onto the album... larrys had some family stuff to do in cali, so it got pushed back. however, all it needs is a quick once over and then its off to master!!

my life in hotels

so a bit of catch up before my random thoughts..

i have the first mix cd of the album... which means i'm taking lots of notes. i.e. turn vocals up here, guitar up here, etc. it looks like the release is going to be sometime in june. photos are back from jim mayfield and drew ertle. patrick is lined up for the artwork (he put together the last album and did a fantastic job).

bottom line... busy busy busy. as it get closer to being finished i'll let you in on some other exciting things we're doing with the new album. :)

however, i would now like to point out my love/hate relationship with interstates and my hate relationship with unmarked police vehicles. no, i didn't get stopped... but i did almost have a heart attack. sneaky sneaky..

i honestly wish i could take more state highways and county roads when i travel, but the interstates are quick quick indeed. usually i try to make up the blah scenery by searching out local diners and out of the way establishments. however, i'm in normal, illinois tonight and the only place i've been is a schnucks. (sp?) i picked up some v-8 juice and goldfish crackers in an attempt to feel both healthy and 7 years old.

the highest point of the outing thus far? discovering jalapeno pretzels. mmm...
i should prob. leave on that note.

starting to green up out there...

fun times, fun times... been in the studio a few times this week. dave wilson put down some really nice fiddle parts on a song called 'blue'. sort of an irish-y thing... the album is almost down to mixing. a short list of to-do's and one song that is more or less from scratch... which i still need to finish writing. haha

larry put some background vocals in while i was chilling on the farm. it's pretty surreal to hear the songs now. i love how it's turning out, but it's quite the departure from me and my lonely guitar... in a good way. it's nice to branch out and explore new ground.

i have to say that it's getting harder to go into the studio. i love it... but with these good weather days, i kinda just want to find a new oak tree to sit under and write a bit...

ok... so my last entry was a bunch of nonsense about me actually getting my myspace page in working order... however, now i've decided to re-re-design it. here's the catch... this time i'm folding my main website in the mix. woohoo for getting in over your head! it'll be a while before anything goes live, but i'll keep you posted.

the album you say? the one that i first started saying would be released last november? well.... we have a few loose ends to tie up before we go to mixing, but here's some info if you've missed out...

Larry Lee from the Ozark Mountain Daredevils is producing... which means i can usually be heard saying 'oh so that's how you do it...'. it's full production, full band, the whole sparkly thing. we've had some really great players come in and help out. Dave Painter, Kelly Brown, Ned Wilkinson, and Dave Wilson have all layed down some killer stuff.

right now we're looking at late spring for a release, but i'll do my best to keep the progress noted on here. that's all for now!
